Urban Beekeeping,
Community First
The Toronto Beekeepers Collective cares for honeybee hives across the city, educates the public about pollinators, and welcomes passionate people to learn the craft together.
What is the TBC?
The Toronto Beekeepers Collective is a non-profit collective dedicated to learning about bees and beekeeping, providing public education around pollinators, and advocating on behalf of bees in our city.
We are responsible for the care of shared hives throughout the Greater Toronto Area, working with partners at some of Toronto's most beloved institutions. We are a proud member of the Ontario Beekeepers' Association.
Members receive
- Hands-on beekeeping experience
- A share of the annual honey harvest
- Workshops using hive products (candles, soap, honey)
- Monthly educational meetings
- A community of fellow bee enthusiasts
Our Bee Yards
We maintain hives at four locations across Toronto, from a downtown hotel rooftop to community farms in the northwest.
Fairmont Royal York Hotel
Rooftop hives above one of Toronto's most iconic hotels, established in 2008. Our bees forage across Toronto's waterfront and downtown core.
Downsview Park
A specially designed hexagonal beeyard nestled among sumach trees at Allen Road and Sheppard, part of our long partnership with the park.
Black Creek Community Farm
Ten hives at this vibrant community farm, supporting local food growing and pollination across the northwest of the city.
We are also looking to establish a fifth location. If you have a suitable rooftop or natural space, get in touch.
Interested in joining?
We accept new members once a year in March/April. No beekeeping experience is required — just enthusiasm, time, and a love of bees.
